How long will it take?

This is dependent on the size of the job. Between four and eight weeks is typical.

Are your quotes fixed?

Yes, with the proviso that nothing that would have a major impact on project costs is discovered when our architect visits your property. In the unlikely event that something is discovered then we will discuss alternatives with you before work commences.

Will I need planning permission?

If your home is not already extended, you may be able to have your loft conversion done as a permitted development, which means that you do not need planning permission. If you do need planning permission, we will apply for it and liaise with the relevant authorities on your behalf.

Should I have a dormer?

When the apex of your roof is not very high, a dormer gives the conversion significantly more space. It allows for all of the space into the eaves to be fully utilised and allows more flexibility in the positioning of the staircase.

Will the conversion comply with building regulations?

Yes. All Bambridge Loft conversions are designed by experienced architects and structural engineers. local Authority buildings inspectors visit the site during construction and on completion. We liaise with all the relevant authorities and at the end of the job you will be given a completion certificate which confirms that the work follows local authority regulations.

Does it make a mess?

All our teams carry dust sheets, carpet, floor protection and hoovers. We remove any rubbish generated by the conversion ourselves, and where possible, materials brought into and out of the conversion are done without access to the occupied parts of your home. Any mess made in your home is cleared up at the end of every working day. It is important to remember however, that a loft conversion is a major project and you should expect some dust throughout the house, escpecially in older properties where ceilings and roofs may not have been disturbed for many years.

Can I see other jobs you have done?

Yes. It’s our experience that our customers are only too happy to show off their beautiful new conversions! We will try to find a conversion which closely matches the one you are considering for your own home. We will liaise with the owners and arrange a mutually convenient time for you to go and see the work.

How much does it cost?

Not as much as you might think. If you need more space and your other option is to move house, you might be pleasantly surprised. Factoring in estate agents’ fees, stamp duty, conveyancing costs and removals makes loft conversion a very attractive option. In addition, a loft conversion adds significantly to the value of your home and makes it highly sellable.
